We are a fire protection organization established to prevent fires, extinguish fires, prevent loss of life and property when a fire starts, and to confine a fire to the place it starts.
As a Rural Fire District, we provide fire and rescue and ambulance services on a 24/7 basis. We are a certified Firewise community.

The Big Mountain Fire District is administered by the Fire Chief and elected/appointed Board of Trustees.
The Big Mountain Fire District is accepting applications for the position of Firefighter Paramedic.
The BMFD provides credit for previous Paramedic/Firefighting experience. Individuals who meet criteria and are offered employment will be moved to an higher step within the pay scale once a six-month probationary period has been completed.
Crews are scheduled 48/96.
The BMFD provides paid vacation and sick leave; Health Savings Account (HSA) funding at $1000 per year, pays 100% of the employee's health insurance premium, Firefighters Unified Retirement System, paid Kelly days, $60 per month stipend for off-duty gym membership and is part of the IAFF Local 3995.
